Cyber Security for Seniors Projects and Foundations Inc. Announces a Commitment to Secure Our World by Taking Action during Cybersecurity Awareness Month to Reduce Cyber Risk

Cybersecurity Awareness Month highlights the growing importance of cybersecurity in our daily lives and encourages individuals and businesses to take important cybersecurity steps everyday to Secure

Our World and stay safe online.

October 1, 2024 — Cyber Security for Seniors Projects and Foundations Inc. today announced its commitment to cybersecurity education

by participating in the 21st Annual Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Founded in 2004, Cybersecurity

Awareness Month, held each October, is the world’s foremost initiative aimed at promoting cybersecurity awareness and best practices. Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a collaborative effort

among businesses, government agencies, colleges and universities, associations, nonprofit organizations, tribal communities, and individuals committed to educating others about online safety.

From mobile to connected home devices, technology is deeply intertwined in our lives. Emerging technologies have many great benefits for society but with those new technologies come new

opportunities for bad actors to disrupt our online activities at home, school or at work. Cybersecurity Awareness Month aims to highlight some of the emerging challenges that exist in the world of

cybersecurity today and provide straightforward, actionable guidance that anyone can follow to

create a safe and secure digital world for themselves and their loved ones.

The theme of Cybersecurity Awareness Month is Secure Our World, which encourages all of us to take

four easy steps each day to ensure our online safety: Understand the benefits of using a password manager and dispelling existing myths around password manager security and ease of use. Turn on multifactor authentication on personal devices and business networks.

Recognize and report phishing – still one of the primary threat actions used by cybercriminals today. Install updates on a regular basis and turn on automated updates. Cybersecurity Awareness Month continues to build momentum and impact with the goal of providing everyone with the information they need to stay safe and more secure online. [Organization name] is proud to support this critically important online safety awareness and education initiative, led by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the National Cybersecurity Alliance.

  •   August 8, 2024  We are presently working on a white paper covering the best ways for cyber security nonprots, such as ours’,  to provide protecon and safety, as well as to improve the lives of all the following: seniors and the elderly, rerees (at any age), those with disabilies, and certain other deserving and at-risk groups.   To accomplish the above, we are launching “In-Home Cyber Security Services (IHCSS)”,  as part of our “Cyber Security for Seniors Projects and Foundaons INC.” One of our primary goals is to provide a greatly improved model for beer programs, as well as more reliable services and support, than government agencies and the like would provide, one such being “In-Home Social Services,” itself a governmental supported and funded nonprot. No wonder our organizaon, IHCSS, is the way to go, since we acvely forge new and beer ways to help those most in need.           Also, IHCSS will work very closely, and on an individual basis, with our newfound friends who seriously need and seek out our help, but where they can sll personally make the nal decisions, with a major key being that we’ll achieve all this without any undue and unwelcomed interference from any outsiders.    Our services and support programs involve:  Saving and protecng seniors and others through our highly reliable assistance on dealing with and also avoiding various cyber scams; providing in-person cyber security monitoring concerning phishing; ways for idenfying cyber scams on email and websites; informing people of other dangers and high-risk situaons and behaviors; etc.  We will also have an important program called “Read but Don’t Click”.  Read but Don’t Click is about the proper way to read email and idenfy phishing and other cyber scams on email. This is all about “common sense”, but you sll must heed the warning signs.   Right now, we have far too few cyber security volunteers who are helping seniors. We must increase the ranks of these volunteers and other related pares by creang cyber security cercaons, curriculums, programs, and other e-ins, all though specialized vocaonal and trade schools, community colleges, regular colleges, and other sources and resources.  In addion, IHCSS will vet all our cyber and non-cyber security volunteers, and sta and presenters, as well as those who have in-person contact with seniors and other interested pares. From top to boom, proper educaon is of the utmost importance for all of us, and above all, the people who most need our help. And the need for cyber security awareness today is greater and more acute than ever before, because of not only the state of our economy, but also because of the growth of sophiscated technology (ex: algorithms and AI (arcial intelligence) that scammers use to cheat seniors and many others, and a host of other problems that are tearing our naon apart. One specic example and warning:  the 2020 U.S. Census states that people over the age of 65 are part of the fastest growing populaon (percentage-wise) in the U.S., and they are also part of the most targeted group for criminals and scam arsts.   Thank you very much, Randolf & Robert Damron  Cyber Security for Seniors Project and Foundaons Inc.  501(c3) EIN 87-3071724

In our Cyber Security for Seniors Project and Foundation INC. (CS4SP.com) program, In-Home Cyber Security Services, the privacy, and anonymity of our clients are among the most important parts of our cyber security community, and we do this in order to secure our mutual rights.  Our cyber security providers, presenters, volunteers, and staff, including those from sources other than CS4SP, are required to be “vetted,” and they must also pass security clearances. At all events involving the groups of people aforementioned, they are required to remind our clients that we don’t ask for or collect private information, such as social security numbers, credit card information, health insurance records, and other information and data that could compromise our clients’ safety in regards to cyber scams and other cybercrimes.

We (CS4SP) also intend to provide virtual and In-person events for our clients.  To make it easier for all concerned, we could meet our clients at any of a number of alternative locations (ex. library or other public meeting place, coffee shop, etc.), in order to make it easier and safer for both them and us, as well as others throughout the senior community, etc., to obtain better assistance and support, although our clients’ homes can also be a more appropriate venue on occasion.

Final thoughts: CSPS4, in addition to being a charitable organization, not only works closely with religious organizations, including those of the non-denominational variety, but also with secular ones, as well, to ensure the privacy and anonymity of all our clients, as discussed above.  And we always respect our clients God-given rights to be treated with dignity and equality, whatever physical or mental condition they are in.

To all Senior, Elderly , Retirees and with Disabilities . We (Randy and Bob) are looking forward to moving IHCSS (In Home Cyber Security Services) to the active and operational phase on August 20, 2024.  We are putting together more information on making this important move go smoothly.  Because we are required to "vet" all our volunteers, staff, presenters, and anyone else who has or will have direct contact with seniors, the elderly, and others who need our assistance, I (Randy Damron) will be responsible for seeing that everything is all covered.  I am working on a website that will have more information, including any future updates, and this includes other details on privacy and anonymity for those who seek out our help and services.

We need to stop feeding the beast of AI scams, as well as other dangers targeting innocent victims, by requiring no personal information from those whom we both serve and support.  This is of the utmost importance for their safety and security.  An example of what we will provide, which includes information which was obtained recently at a cyber security summer camp in Las Vegas (NV), concerns how we at Cyber Security for Seniors (CS4SP) will follow through on our obligations involving privacy and anonymity.

Thank you for all your support,

Elderly Senior Citizen Scam and Fraud Statistics 2024

Statistics show that an increasing number of elderly people are falling victim to scams. We take a look at this concerning trend by highlighting the key statistics from 2020 to [currentyear].

"Statistics reveal more people are falling victim to online scams. One demographic particularly affected by this issue is the elderly. Older homeowners with healthy financial savings, decent credit scores – and a trusting nature – often find themselves targeted by scammers. Scammers mimic communications from romantic partners, tech support staff, government employees, bank staff, etc."

What is In Home Cyber Security Services ?
