Elderly Senior Citizen Scam and Fraud Statistics 2024
Statistics show that an increasing number of elderly people are falling victim to scams. We take a look at this concerning trend by highlighting the key statistics from 2020 to [currentyear].
"Statistics reveal more people are falling victim to online scams. One demographic particularly affected by this issue is the elderly. Older homeowners with healthy financial savings, decent credit scores – and a trusting nature – often find themselves targeted by scammers. Scammers mimic communications from romantic partners, tech support staff, government employees, bank staff, etc."

Many articles reported shortage of those in the cyber security field, but this does not include the shortage of those who deliver cyber security to the most vulnerable community, namely the senior community.
We plan for our organization to be a non-profit, as it is, by far, the best way to both reach out to and support the diverse and fascinating community of retirees and seniors. Our funding will be largely supported through the efforts of partnerships, special events, private donations, and other sources who care about, have concern for, and respect the older members of our society, whatever their race, nationality or culture may be.

To help bring specialized cyber security services and much more to the attention of seniors, the elderly, and others, in order to better enable them to act to safely handle, secure and protect their own lives and belongings, and to live a more peaceful and positive future, and thus, to be able to accomplish all this without needless worry. Thus, these very meaningful outcomes that they create for themselves, along with our input, help, and support, can help them to prevent, or at least greatly overcome, many major hazards and dangers from cyber scams and cybercrimes, as well as other criminal and unethical behavior, just by procuring and using our services and participating in one or more of our programs that deal with, among other things, the growing incidence of cyber scams, cybercrimes, etc. All this they can accomplish by going through our awareness, alertness, and knowledge improvement programs, specialized education and skill sets, and other types of training, including intermediate and advanced types, that will put them in a much-improved position to protect themselves from criminal behavior, as well as many of the repercussions that may follow same.

Giving positive results-oriented opportunities and promoting success to seniors and those close to them, so that their future bares fruit in their lives. This is accomplished in many ways, both virtually and in-person, such as through: Presentations (including in English and other languages) in cyber-security and other relevant topics for seniors and others, along with a goal towards personal accessibility for them on a 24/7/365 basis and in a prompt and consistently updated manner.
This is only the beginning of what we want to accomplish, as our future goals also include incorporating advancements in, as well as developing new, forensic methods and technologies in the appropriate sciences and other fields, as well as improving and developing other protective measures, including those covering physical security, as we follow through on advocating for our most vulnerable people, including our retired and senior citizens, and many others. We will also be working very closely, and sometimes partnering, with private and public firms, including non-profits and those who serve the public interest. With all of us working together in unison, but still in our own special and personal ways, our achievements and triumphs will be many.
We would like to extend our deep appreciation to the following non profits for the hard work in helping seniors in San Francisco and beyond . We wish to be able to contribute to continue your hard work for all seniors .

Let’s Quit Brainwashing Kids That It’s A College Degree Or Nothing
by Ani Lahiri
Published on September 17, 2019
“How many people feel like a “failure” because they didn’t earn good grades, graduate with a college degree, or receive a formal “education?”
It is time for all of us to realize that people who don’t do great in school or go to college are just as valuable, just as important, and just as brilliant as anyone who does earn a college degree.”

Breaking into cybersecurity careers through nontraditional paths
Some DEF CON attendees discussed their nontraditional paths into cybersecurity and how networking and being eager to learn can bridge the gap between experience and job requirements.
Michael Heller Senior Reporter

“Depending on who is asked, there's either a shortage of people with cybersecurity skills or there are issues with the hiring processes that focus too much on certifications and traditional experience while overlooking candidates who are capable, enthusiastic and willing to learn.”

Virtual Meetings:
For the time being, Cyber Security for Seniors (CSS) will be holding monthly virtual meetings on ZOOM. Usually, there will be one or two invited cyber security practitioners or professionals, as well as participation by members of the public, primarily seniors, the elderly, retirees, and their families. In addition, people from community organizations serving these groups, are always most welcome to join us, if room permits. The goal, as always, is to have an open discussion on current cyber security news and laws that could affect all the above, as well as other information that could affect these groups down the road and over the long term.
CSS will encourage all the participants above, as well as cyber security practitioners and professionals, and those from the seniors’ communities-at-large, to bring articles, photos, and other appropriate materials that they find on the internet to our ZOOM meetings to share with us as openers or conversation pieces for discussions. Ice breakers also will provide further opportunities, and all the above can be brought up as needed throughout the CSS meetings. Since Virtual Meetings will be conducted via ZOOM, and time is of the essence, plus the fact that the concerns and risks that life poses are obviously greater for our older people than for most other people, they are a top priority for CSS. Therefore, CSS is a non-profit organization, and not a political one.
Where feasible, CSS will encourage cyber security practitioners, professionals, and others to share their specialties, skills, and knowledge about how senior communities and the people they represent, can protect each other from cyber scams, fraud and many other unethical, nefarious, and criminal activities.
“Virtual Meetings” conducted by Cyber Security for Seniors (CSS) shall never require or even ask participants to provide any type of personal or confidential information, including, but by no means limited to, the following types of identifying facts and data: emails, credit cards (c.c.) and c.c. input, social security data, address and other numerically-related information (ex. Phone #s and serial #s), and other information, facts and data that many cyber scammers and other criminal elements are always on the lookout for to attack seniors with. “Virtual Meetings” are FREE to all participants, with priority given to the elderly and seniors, retirees, and those close to them.
ZOOM normally charges for any excess time expended over the allowable ‘free time,” Cyber Security for Seniors Projects (CSSP) will pay for these extra costs for its virtual events. Cyber Security for Seniors Projects will cover costs and other compensation expenses related to the services, information, and certain other assets provided by cyber security practitioners, professionals, and other appropriate authorities, when it involves the sharing of their knowledge and expertise on cyber security with seniors, their families, and the community-at-large, who are the ultimate benefactors of such largesse, and these benefits, accelerated knowledge and skills, etc. will largely be conducted through Virtual Meetings on ZOOM.
In addition, we have other projects, including: Cyber Security for Seniors Community Centers, 24/7 Cyber Security for Seniors Hotline, and even programs incorporating various types of educational materials, etc. Also, being a non-profit, CSS will have various fundraiser events and other activities, all obviously originated by us, and many of them creative and expansive ones. All of this emboldens us even more to make our many quality actions and activities the best ones available anywhere, as well as to create and develop more top-notch projects, programs, and other activities for the ongoing future, as the CSS continues to grow. To address all these challenges and the resulting solutions, we will also be addressing and correcting the problems related to the severe shortage of people who are skillful and highly knowledgeable in the cyber security industry. Along these lines, we will also make available and promote cyber security programs and other activities in high schools, community colleges, trade and vocational schools, etc.
As of October 13 2021, We are now officially a non profit in the State of California . We are applying foreign Qualification that we an operate in other states.
